Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight will I lose while I’m there?
The Surgeon General and most health care professionals recommend losing no more than 2 lbs. per week.  We follow these guidelines because we feel that it is healthier for you and makes it easier for you to keep the weight off.  If you were enrolled at NAF for 9-12 months, that would equal 78-104 lbs!

 Is the program hard?
No!  At NAF, we make losing weight fun!  We work at your pace and you’ll find that the days are filled with many new and fun activities which will help you lose weight and shape your body.

Will I gain the weight back when I go home?
The lifestyle changes you make here will make it easy for you to stay slim and fit for life.  You will gain the knowledge and confidence to maintain a healthy weight once you leave.

What will I be able to do during my free time there?
There is plenty of time each day for you to do “your own thing”.  Much of what you do at home right now, you will be able to do while you’re here.  There will also be opportunities to try and do many new things.

Can I choose the activities that I want to do?
Yes.  The students help to plan and choose the activities each week.  We want your input in planning fun and exciting activities that you would like to do.

Where is Paradise Canyon?
Our Paradise Canyon Campus is on a twenty acre ranch located in Apple Valley, Utah, near Zion National Park.  It is within 1.5 hours of the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, LakePowell, and many other National Parks.  There are also shopping malls and other fun places of interest nearby.

What can I do on campus?
There are many exciting activities you can do right on campus.  Mountain biking, Sony PlayStation, walking trails, soccer, softball, and outdoor barbeques are just a few of them.

What kind of exercise will I have to do?
We use many different activities for exercise at NAF to keep things new and exciting.  Yoga, kickboxing, aerobics, step, walking, hiking, strength training, and bike riding are a few of them.  We’ll help you find the ones that you like to do.

Will the exercise be too difficult?
Our classes are designed to accommodate all fitness and energy levels.  We will motivate and encourage you to do your best but will never push you too hard.  We work with you to reach you goals, starting off gradually so that you can increase your strength and endurance.
